“French Cleat” Mirror

What is a french cleat? …. A french cleat is a way of securing a cabinet, mirror or artwork to a wall. It is a molding with a 30-45 degree slope used to hang the object being mounted. Our mirrors hang 1” off the wall.

Frequently asked questions:

  • What type of wood is used for French Cleats?

French Cleats are made from plywood and they’re perfect for hanging heavy or bulky items flush against a wall. To make a french cleat, you’ll need access to a table saw.

  • Are French Cleats strong?

A French Cleat system will be just as strong as most store bought wall organizers, and the hanging storage possibilities are only limited by your imagination and skill level.

*Please Note: Electricity and lights shown in photographs are not installed or provided by ABC GLASS INC. We only provide the mirror and the installation of the mirror itself.

Why is my bathroom mirror turning black?

“Desilvering often occurs in mirrors placed in bathrooms as they are exposed to a high level of moisture, the water can seep into the silver backing. Moisture breaks down the bond between the glass and the backing product causing the silver layer to chip off leaving the mirror with black spots or edges wherever the silver layer is damaged.

This can also break down due to age, or incorrect glass cleaners.”
